Alamana is located on the southern side of Damasta. Alamana became known from the historical bridge of the same name, over the former Alamanas river (Sperchios river), where the Battle of Alamana took place between the Greeks and the Ottoman empire, during the Greek War of Independence, on April 22 – 23, 1821. In that battle, Athanasios Diakos and his men fell heroically, fighting against the forces of Omer Vrioni.

The Monument of Athanasios Diakos is on the National Road, while, in close proximity, there is the marble bust of the Greek national hero.
