Battle for the Liberation of Lidoriki

The siege of Lidoriki marked the beginning of the 1821 Revolution in the province of Doris. It aimed at liberating Lidoriki and it took place on March 18, 1821.

Captain Skaltsas and the notables Anagnostis Lidorikis, Papa-Georgios Politis, and other countrymen raised the Greek Revolution flag and, with drum sounds as their rallying call, entered the village Lidoriki. Ottomans under siege resisted in their dwellings. Two days later, with some of them dead, the Ottomans were compelled to lay down their arms and surrender.
