Gravia is built on the northeastern part of the Phocis regional unit, on the foothills of mount Parnassus, at a height of 400 m. above sea level. It is located at the intersection of mountains Parnassus and Giona and the Phthiotis regional unit. 

In ancient times, the region of Gravia was part of the region of ancient Doris.

The most popular site in the area is the historic Gravia Inn, where the Battle of Gravia Inn took place in May 8, 1821. Today, it is a monument – museum.
