Kokkino

Kokkinos village enjoys a privileged location on a sunny hill, at a height of 650 m. above sea level. It offers a view on the artificial lake of Mornos.

The history of the village dates back to ancient times. According to bibliographical data, Kokkinos was founded in the 7th or 8th century BCE. During the Gallic Invasion of Central Greece, in 279 BCE, the ancient settlement was probably destroyed along with the neighbouring Kallipolis.

The contribution of Kokkinos to the Greek Revolution of 1821 was significant.
