Koniakos

Koniakos is located on the eastern side of mount Vardoussia, at a height of approximately 1000 m. above sea level. It is 17 km from Lidoriki and 260 km from Athens. The patron saint of the village is St George. The village celebrates the feast day of St George and the Assumption of Virgin Mary with a festival in August 23.

In the square of the village, there is a large sycamore tree and a traditional coffee shop (property of the “Agios Georgios” fraternal society of Dorida), as well as a hostel.

Koniakos is a great place to visit on your holiday, because of its healthy climate. The landscape is verdant, making Koniakos an ideal destination for nature lovers. Visitors can climb mount Vardoussia and get to the summer fields, where they can admire the magnificent rocky slopes of mount Giona and, in the north, the verdant mount “Katavothra” (Oeta), where Mornos river stems from. There, visitors can observe the river flowing downhill towards Mornos lake and, in the distance, they can catch a glimpse of the Corinthian Gulf and mount Chelmos.
